'Emergency Services Management in the High Hazard Industries' - Alec Feldman, Fulcrum Consultants (Secretariat of JOIFF). (Venue: Lloyd's Library)

JOIFF (The Organisation for Emergency Services Management) works with High Hazard Industry to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding of emergency response personnel with the aim of ensuring that whether employed or contractual, personnel manage risks safely. JOIFF has developed a system of competency based training, much of it provided on the site of the Emergency Responder to ensure that each person receives training that will enable them to perform their duties safely, efficiently and in a competent manner, on an on-going basis. JOIFF believes that Competent Emergency Response is not just responding to an Incident, it is planning to evaluate and minimise risk and anticipate potential problems, training for preparedness, responding with the pre-planned manpower and resources and controlling incidents in a manner that will minimise damage to persons, property, environment, disruption to the Organisation’s business and ensure business continuity. Currently JOIFF has more than 180 Member Organisations in 38 Countries.
